This course will take a closer look at the first main process in mushroom growing: producing compost (or composting).
The art of making compost is to create a homogeneous, selective compost using heterogeneous by-products. This e-learning course will provide you with insight into the processes that need to be completed so you know which actions are essential in each step of the process. If you work on a composting company you will see, smell and feel the compost and notice that it constantly changes. This course will give you a very broad basis to help you understand what is happening and how you can influence the process. It will give you insights into what action you can take to steer the composting process to achieve an optimal end product. You will learn to recognise signals from practice, not to jump to conclusions too quickly but instead to ask yourself three questions each time: what do I see, what could it mean and what can I do?
